Mrs Emma Hewitt (spelt Hewett on the passenger lists) migrated with her husband Thomas when she was 19 (see Thomas Hewitt). In 1900, the couple were living in Sheffield.
Emma Hewitts maiden name was Wood
She was born in Polesworth in 1833 and jumped her age up a bit for travel she was in fact only 17.
Her mother died when she was 1 and her father died when she was 9
Permission to marry underage was given by her uncle and she and Thomas were married on the 22 August 1850 just weeks before they left for NZ
