The George Seymour
George Cresswell (1847-1914) was four when he sailed to Canterbury with his parents Thomas, a carpenter (1814-1890), and Jemima (29), and his siblings Ann (12), Robert (1840-1916), and Thomas (infant).
Thomas Cresswell Sen. built the old Clarendon Hotel and C. W. Turner’s house; George was a butcher; and Robert was a stockman and the first manager of the Canterbury Frozen Meat Company. Records show that in 1900 Robert was living in Styx.
In 1870 George married Charlotte Susan Barrett.
